【摘要】:Manyoftheteststhathavebeenemployedinthepasttoevaluatethreadsealantproductshavenotconsistentlytargetedthemostsignificantproductfeaturesofathreadsealant.Forinstance,oneofathreadsealantrsquo;primaryperformancefeaturesisitsabilitytomaintainasealunderarangeofconditions.Theproceduresinthistestmethodassesstheimportantcharacteristicpropertiesofathreadsealant.Becauseofthevariabilityofthetestspecimensandthetechniquesemployedbyeachoperator,theassemblyandtestproceduresandthetestingapparatushavebeendesignedtoreducethevariabilityofthetestresults.1.1Thistestmethodcoversproceduresusedtoassemble,evaluateandtestpipethreadsealants.1.2Testproceduresincludedinthistestmethodarecurespeedversustemperature,primercure,instantseal/sealability,heataging,solventrsistance,hotstrength,steamresistance,andspecimenpreparationforhighpressuretesting.1.3Thevaluesstatedininch-poundunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.TheSIunitsgiveninparenthesesareforinformationonly.1.4Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesandtodeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
